 About San Juan Soccer Club

Over its twenty five years operation, the San Juan Soccer Club has created and refined a comprehensive program for the development of competitive youth soccer from the American River Youth Soccer League and the general Sacramento area.

This program is designed to provide each player with a fundamental base in technical and tactical skills along with an appreciation for the Game of Soccer. The club has designed a program that provides each player with the opportunity to improve their soccer ability by stressing the basic soccer techniques as a foundation for the younger age groups and then building on those techniques with advanced training for older players. While the Club is dedicated to providing each player with the necessary training in basic fundamentals and advanced tactics that will enable them to reach their maximum playing potential, the club also places a strong emphasis on teaching players "The Spirit of the Game" by stressing sportsmanship and appreciation for the opponents, officials, and parents that allow us to play the game.

The Club's success in the area of player development is shown by the performance of our teams and accolades bestowed on our players. San Juan has produced one State Championship Team and one Youth National Team player in each of the last five years. The success of these teams and players is the result of the dedication of each player and their parents, the quality of the San Juan Coaching Staff, and an overall commitment by the Club to long term development of the individual player.

 Player Development Statement

The San Juan Soccer Clubs' goal is to develop players over an eight to nine year time period within the following general guidelines:

· U-10 - U-12 Technical Training Group

· U-13 - U-15 Tactical Training Group

· U-16 - U-19 Advanced Training Group

The focus of the Technical Training Group is on teaching the basics skills of trapping, passing, movement off the ball, and defending - the basic skills that must be mastered prior to moving on to the next level. This group limits its focus on winning and concentrates on individual player development.

The focus of the Tactical Training Group is on teaching the game strategies and execution, as well as continued technical skills training. More focus is placed on winning, with the expectation that older teams in this group achieve greater success within the State and the Region.

The focus of the Advanced Training Group is on developing and understanding "Systems of Play" within each team, utilizing their technical and tactical skills learned from the prior groups. They play a very competitive schedule and look to promote players within the Regional and National ODP programs, as well as Major College programs throughout the United States.
